Support Priya Mathur for CalPERS Re-Election

CalPERS Board of Administration Vice-President Priya Mathur addressed the July Council 57 Delegate Assembly requesting our endorsement for her re-election to the Board. This was particularly meaningful as Priya is a member of AFSCME Local 3993. As a Principal Financial Analyst at BART she understands the challenges public agencies face in balancing budgets, meeting payroll and controlling costs. “I am proud of my record fighting for the retirement and health care security of CalPERS members, including the hard working public sector members of AFSCME,” Mathur said. “I will continue to implement groundbreaking initiatives that lead to smarter and more effective care and find innovative ways to expand health care access, contain costs, improve care and keep your premiums affordable.”

The League of California Cities has recruited a Management candidate to challenge Priya Mathur and unseat her as Public Agency Representative on the CalPERS Board. The League of Cities is notorious for championing contracting out of public services, so it is clear we need to re-elect Priya to advocate for the working people of California.
